Four years after making a blockbuster trade with the Jets to land Adams, the Seahawks released the safety, according to multiple reports.

At the time, Adams said he cried “tears of joy” and said his plan was to retire a Seahawk.

“I prayed hard and asked God to put me where I needed to be, whether it was going back to New York or getting traded,” Adams said. “This is my calling. I'm here to stay and I'm happy to be a Seattle Seahawk.

Adams struggled with injuries in Seattle, tearing his left quad tendon during the season opener in 2022 and missing the remainder of the year.

This past season, he missed eight games after Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll admitted to a knee injury from the previous year. Still affected Adams.

Adams was fined $50,000 by the NFL for assaulting a concussion specialist during a game in October.

After this past season, the Seahawks moved Carroll from head coach to a role in the front office and replaced him with Ravens defensive coordinator Mike McDonald.
