Summer Game Fest 2023: All Announced

Summer Game Fest 2023 is finally here, and Geoff Keighley’s show kicks off a week of announcements and updates on brand new and previously announced games. In the past, we’ve seen games like The Last of Us Part 1 and Marvel’s Midnight Suns, so some AAA games are bound to pop up anytime soon.

Spider-Man 2 gets an October 20, 2023 release date

Just days after Sony shared a blowout gameplay presentation for Spider-Man 2 , Summer Game Fest revealed the long-awaited PlayStation 5 exclusive release date of October 20. We got a box art reveal showing Peter and Miles in costume shooting nets. And Venom learns that Eddie won’t become Bragg.

Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown is coming next year

Summer Game Fest kicked off with a surprise: a brand new Prince of Persia game coming out early next year. Prince of Persia: The Last Crown is coming to PlayStation 5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC on January 18, 2024. This game is a new side scrolling action platformer.

Mortal Kombat 1 gets a bone-crushing gameplay trailer

Mortal Kombat 1 is due out later this year, and we’ve got a new look at the gameplay for the next entry in the long-running series. We saw a new assist mechanic in action, where fighters can call in the help of other Mortal Kombat characters in the middle of battle. We see a couple of deaths, including a close-up shot of someone’s rib cage, and someone ripping the heart out of the chest. Yes, it’s Mortal Kombat!

Sonic Superstars is a new 2D classic Sonic game coming this year

Sega revealed Sonic Superstars, a new side-scrolling Sonic game with four-player co-op. Players can choose between Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Amy Rose, and can play with up to four players at once. The game is a side scroller, but it takes on a 3D art style similar to classic Sonic’s appearances in Sonic Generations and Sonic Forces. The game is out on all platforms this fall.

Alan Wake 2 features great gameplay

Alan Wake 2 arrives on October 17th, and we got our best look at the game yet at the Summer Game Fest. The game features two playable characters — Alan Wake and Saga Anderson — with a 50-50 split between the two of them. Saga is an FBI agent in the Pacific Northwest, while Alan Wake tries to escape the dream dimension.

John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando Revealed

Saber Interactive, Focus Entertainment and John Carpenter reveal John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando, a new first-person shooter inspired by ’80s action and horror. The reveal trailer showed off well-equipped military vehicles and plenty of guns to take on hordes of undead enemies. The game is coming to Xbox Series X|S, PS5 and PC next year.

Sandland is a new action game from Akira Toriyama and Bandai Namco

We got our first look at SandLand, the new Bandai Namco game coming to PlayStation 5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The game features Akira Toriyama’s signature art style, making it instantly comparable to the likes of Dragon Ball and Dragon Quest. While the game features tank and melee combat in the vast desert, the rest of the game looks very different from those two properties. There is no release date for this game yet.

Baldur’s Gate 3 introduces Jason Isaacs as a major villain

Jason Isaacs — best known for his roles as Lucius Malfoy in the Harry Potter franchise and as Captain Hook in 2003’s Peter Pan — joins Balder’s Gate 3 as a major villain. The actor has previously appeared in video games including Marvel’s Midnight Sons and The Last Worker.

Path of Exile 2 gameplay trailer

We’ve got a new look at Path of Exile 2, the upcoming isometric action RPG. The gameplay footage we got was very short, showing a mage character tearing through monsters with electric magic. At the end of the trailer, they tease that we will know more on July 28.

Exoprimal is getting a Street Fighter 6 crossover

As Geoff Keighley originally introduced it as a sequel announcement for Street Fighter 2 , Capcom pulled a pretty good bait and switch on us. Instead, it turned out to be Capcom Collab 1 for ExoPrimal, where a robotic Mecha Ryu takes on ExoPrimal’s dinosaurs. Exoprimal launches on July 14 with the Street Fighter 6 sequel this fall.

P’s Lies Gets Demo and New Release Date

Pinocchio souls like Lies of P now arrives on September 19, slightly delayed from the previous August date. However, players can play a demo of the game that consists of the first two chapters of the game, which includes three boss fights and several locations to explore.

Netflix has shared The Witcher Season 3 trailer

The Witcher Season 3 marks the last season of Henry Cavill’s Geralt of Rivia, and we’ve seen the first full trailer for the upcoming season. Siri takes center stage in Season 3, as Gerald and Yennefer work to protect her. We also saw some great swordplay from Henry Cavill.

Warhammer 40k: Space Marine 2 Reveals Co-op

Warhammer 40k: Space Marine 2 will feature three-player co-op throughout the campaign. We’ve got a new gameplay trailer, which shows returning protagonist Titus as two fellow space marines team up to defeat the tyrannical forces. The game is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC this winter.

Nicolas Cage dies in broad daylight

The Summer Game Fest crowd erupted in laughter at this amazing crossover reveal, and we learned that Nicolas Cage was coming to Dead in the daylight. The infamous actor also appeared on stage for a chat. Cage called it Dead by Daylight because he had never been involved in the video game industry before. A Nick Cage episode is coming to Dead by Daylight on July 25.

Yes, a sequel to Your Grace has been announced

We got the scoop on Yes, Your Grace: Snowfall, the sequel to the 2020 indie game from Brave at Night and No More Robots. The original was about choices about how to rule your kingdom, and the sequel takes the idea and expands on it in a new winter setting. The game will arrive sometime next year.

Witchfire goes into early access in September

The next trailer shown is for Witchfire from the creators of The Vanishing of Ethan Carter, Painkiller and Bulletstorm. Before switching to first-person shooter gameplay, we saw a very creepy forest filled with fog and skeletons. The gameplay footage saw the player using a crossbow, shotgun, melee combat and more. Witchfire launches in Early Access on September 20.

Remaining 2 release date revealed

Gunfire Games’ Remnant 2 launches next month, on July 25th. The new trailer showed off the locations players will visit, including the new plane of darkness, Narude. Remnant 2 is the sequel to the game referred to as “Dark Souls with Guns,” and Remnant 2 is coming. Procedurally generated levels and storylines.

Honkai Star Rail is getting a PS5 release window

Honkai Star Rail — a game from Genshin Impact developer Mihoyo — got a new trailer showing off new characters in the RPG. We also have a release window for the PlayStation 5 version, which we now know is coming in Q4 2023.
